Bahrain triumphed as the first ever AVC Men’s Volleyball Nations Cup champions and the fifth different winner in the five editions of the competition, previously conducted under the name AVC Men's Challenge Cup. Their best result so far was the second place in 2023. Bahrain also booked a spot at the 2026 Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship. In Tuesday’s final in Manama, the home team defeated Pakistan in four sets, leaving the opponents with silver for the second year in a row. Last year’s champions Qatar now settled for bronze.

In the gold medal showdown at the Isa bin Rashid hall, Bahrain came back from a set down to celebrate a 3-1 (23-25, 25-16, 25-17, 25-18) victory over Pakistan. Their outside hitter Mohamed Abdulla Yaqoob fired four aces and raised two kill blocks to finish on a 20-point total, while opposite Mohamed Anan led the way with a match-high 27 points, including one ace. Pakistan’s scorers were led by outside hitters Usman Faryad Ali with 15 points and captain Murad Jehan with 11.

Qatar secured their spot on the podium with a 3-0 (25-21, 25-20, 25-23) sweep of the bronze medal match against Korea. Middle blocker Belal Nabel Abunabot spearheaded the winners with 12 points, including four kill blocks. Outside Raimi Wadidie added two aces and a block to finish with a total of 11 points. Korea’s opposite Donghyeok Im was the best scorer of the match with 13 points, while outside Subong Heo produced another 10 for the team.

Earlier on Tuesday, in a direct duel for the 10th place in the final standings, the Philippines achieved a 3-1 (25-16, 23-25, 25-11, 25-22) win over New Zealand with a match-high 20 points from opposite Steven Charles Rotter.

Bahrain’s 30-year-old outside hitter Mohamed Abdulla Yaqoob was honored as the tournament’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) and on the Dream Team of the competition, which also featured setter Mahmood Alafyah (Bahrain), opposite Ali Khamis Ebrahim (Bahrain), outside hitter Murad Jehan (Pakistan), middle blockers Musawer Khan (Pakistan) and Belal Nabel Abunabot (Qatar), and libero Ayman Haroon (Bahrain).

With a total of 104 points (92 spikes, 4 kill blocks, 8 aces), Chinese Taipei’s opposite Chang Yu-Sheng topped the best scorers chart of the 2025 AVC Men’s Volleyball Nations Cup.
