The total number of matches to be played is 216 (108 per gender). The 2025 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships 2025 consist of a pool phase and a single elimination phase.

Pool Phase

In each gender, the 48 participating teams are split into 12 single round-robin pools of four. The remaining eight third-placed teams in the pools advance to the first knockout round, dubbed “the lucky loser round”.

Single Elimination Phase

The single elimination phase starts with the four matches of “the lucky loser round” and the four winning teams advance to the sixteenthfinals. The knockout stage continues in a direct elimination format, further including the sixteenthfinals, the eighthfinals, the quarterfinals, the semifinals and the two medal matches.
